SBA Foundation to present ‘An Evening with Amy Brown’
(El Dorado, KS) – The Susan B. Allen Foundation is excited to announce a benefit for the SBA Cancer Center. For the first time ever, the Bobby Bones Show co-host Amy Brown brings her story to a live audience when she comes to the El Dorado’s Performing Arts Center on Jan. 18 for “An Evening with Amy Brown.”
Those attending will hear the stories that make Brown a morning show favorite for millions across America.
“We’re excited to give people the opportunity to see Amy in this setting. I think those attending will be in for a very special treat,” said Chase Locke, SBA Foundation Executive Director.
Brown will be sharing the stories about her life that have impacted so many listeners over the years.

Cross family established memorial fund to assist patients
Dealing with the loss of a loved one is a difficult and emotional time. Finding ways to remember that person now and into the future, often helps with that journey. This is true for Pam Cross, who lost her husband, Matt, to cancer earlier this year.
Pam and her family set up a memorial fund to remember Matt Cross through the Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital Foundation, with the goal of helping others who are undergoing care or treatment.
“It is important because he truly felt blessed in his life and career,” Pam said of Matt. “He was a big community person and felt the need to give back.”

SBAMH Foundation Celebration of Philanthropy recognizes donors
The annual Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital Foundation’s Celebration of Philanthropy was a time to thank donors, recognize giving and present two special awards.
Following a dinner at the Stone Hill Barn, recognitions got underway. Several donors were recognized for achieving new levels of cumulative giving.
New to the Chairman’s Circle were Tom McKibban and Dr. Cathy Cooper, Dr. PJ Hutsey, the Owens family and Sandifer Engineering and Controls.

Distinguished Staff Award
For 31 years Becky Sundgren has worked as an executive assistant at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. During that time, she has assisted with numerous, day to day functions, events and projects for both the hospital and the SBAMH Foundation. To recognize that dedication, Becky received the SBAMH Foundation’s 2018 Distinguished Staff Award.
“I’ve always been involved with both the hospital and Foundation side of business and activities,” Becky said.
Becky’s role as an assistant is to provide support to the CEO, senior leaders, hospital board and staff. She also assists with assignments and roles as new foundation staff are hired to include assisting the director. Click here to read more.
Distinguished Service Award
Community involvement has always been a passion for Ted and Barb Dankert and their hometown continues to benefit from that commitment and dedication.
In recognition of their giving, volunteering and hard work, the Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital Foundation selected the Dankerts as the 2018 Distinguished Service Award recipients.
Together they have a long history with El Dorado and Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital.
Barb was born at Susan B. Allen and raised in El Dorado. They also have two daughters who were born at SBA. In fact, when one of their daughters was born, Ted was stationed in the Army in Vietnam. Click here to read more.
SBA Cancer Center first in area to use 3D printer with treatments
The SBA Cancer Center continues to invest in the latest technology to treat cancer patients. With funding from the Ramon Criss Memorial through the Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital Foundation, the Cancer Center recently purchased a 3D printer and the software to aid in radiation therapy.

Donor-funded fetal heart monitoring project completed
Through a generous donation by the Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital Foundation, along with support from the Hospital and Auxiliary, the SBA Family Birth Center installed a new electronic fetal monitoring system.
The Obix Perinatal Data System allows nurses and medical staff to watch a fetal monitor tracing from many locations in real time. In addition, nurses and physicians can observe multiple patients at one time.
“It really enhances our ability to watch what’s going on with every labor patient,” said Deb Rieb, BSN, RNC-OB, Family Birth Center Manager.
This project was the major fundraising project for the Foundation at last year’s Gala, raising over a quarter of a million dollars for the Obix system, as well as a breastfeeding clinic, better sleeping arrangements for new fathers and training for staff.
