Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital > Clinics > Cardiac Rehabilitation
Cardiac Rehabilitation is an outpatient program involving prescribed exercise sessions and cardiac risk factor modification through education. The program is designed to limit the physiological and psychological effects of cardiac illness and to control cardiac symptoms.
This closely monitored phase will last 6-12 weeks and be held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Range of Services
Educational sessions for Cardiac Rehabilitation include the following topics: anatomy and physiology, risk factors, nutrition pharmacology, exercise training, stress management, and home recommendations. An exercise prescription is provided by the medical director, then an individualized training program is developed. It includes a warm-up phase, aerobic exercise and strength training. Your heart rhythm, blood pressure, pulse, oxygen requirements and other data are monitored.
Medicare, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and most private insurance carriers cover cardiac rehabilitation. We are certified by Medicare and Blue Cross/Blue Shield and are certified by AACVPR and ACSM guidelines for cardiac rehabilitation. Please check with your insurance carrier regarding coverage.
