Adult Diabetes Education

The Adult Diabetes Education Program educates and instructs persons with diabetes in the self-management skills necessary for optimal health. The American Diabetes Association (ADA) Recognized Program is instructed by a team of health care professionals consisting of clinical dietitians, nurses, physicians, pharmacists, social workers, an optometrist and a chaplain, who work closely together to provide the participant with consistent, useful information. The program is presented in three daily sessions and has been designed to accept the person with diabetes and a care partner. Information covered during the program includes exercise instruction and demonstration, practical meal planning, emotional adjustment/stress management, demonstration of blood glucose meters, diabetic eye care, and home schedules and resources.
